I can think of a freshman who will be in the rankings discussions before long. (Those that know me know who I'm talking about.) :-)

The rankings should come out in December! That way Freshman can be considered. Wrestlers are ranked at weights they are not certified to wrestle. I guess it fun to have something out there that can be debated.

The pre-season rankings are fun to talk about and debate. Many kids will be at a lower than what as been projected. Kids that wrestled at a weight for pre-season nationals are ranked at a higher weight in the pre-season rankings. Some teams are still playing football.... but I'm ready for the wrestling season! And the pre-season rankings get people talking.. Good luck to all the kids and teams this year!

I was surprised to not see Nazar make the Wisconsin rankings when I have seen him ranked in the top 5 of just about every national ranking

yeah Ivan but thats nationally...Wisconsin wrestling is way better than that!! I am sure he will be on there very shortly. Just like a couple of other guys that will make the first "season" rankings.

Theres absoutley no point to putting out rankings before teams have even done their fat test. The ranking commitee just moved up the kids one weight class from their last year weight and ranked them according how they did at state or last year. They also left out all-state type wrestlers- Nazar from Prarie du Chein and Gruetner from Muskego. Last, the committee also has kids from the same school at the same weight. (Westover and Einerson (Kasey)- 119 and Jaborek and Einerson (Keegan)- 112).

That is why any PRE-season ranking is pretty much "factless" but makes for conversation. Look at college football. gives kids and programs a boast, pressure, expectation of the season to come.
We will all see how it shakes out. The first season ranking will not be completely correct either but, it will be close.

Then don't look at them.

Then don't look at them. I agree it is just for discussion but Jordan Gruettner, Muskego 40-6 as a freshman at 189. State Qualifier, should be ranked and probably in the top 3 of his weight class..
